Exchange life
From left to right, top to bottom: Savoy Hotel- Copenhagen, Frk. Barners Kaelder restaurant, Apropos Restaurant, DTU main hall
The past few days have been long and productive days. Besides trying to get over being in Mountain time and waking up at 3 am starving, everything has gone smoothly.
The first night here we went to a traditional Danish restaurant call Frk. Barners Kaelder. It was a very good introduction into what eating in Denmark would be like: lots of meat and potatoes. I am perfectly okay with that. The Savoy Hotel is very quaint and its nice to have some "luxury" from the box I'll be living in the next 5 months. Danish style is very modern, simplistic, sheer and clean.
I moved in today and will be posting pictures later when I get moved in with all my new roommates so that I can hopefully post a picture of all of us. So far I have a roommate from Chicago, two from China, a Spanish girl, and one from Japan. They all seem very nice. I'm pretty sure I also have German roommate, which leaves two more a mystery. Tonight, the Chinese had a bunch of friends (from other "containers") making homemade pot stickers in our kitchen which was neat. I'm staying the night in Copenhagen again to get to know the city.
After journeying back into the city we picked a restaurant close to the meat packing district. The restaurant we picked was the Apropos Cafe and it was a great random choice. I had my first Danish beer and was asked for an ID. Too bad I still don't even look like I'm 18... It was strange to use an American drivers license where it is relentlessly made a point to not be used for alcohol until after 21 to ordering a beer in a restaurant. All the same, my dad and I got to enjoy a quite cafe, some good food and a local beer (Carlsberg).
I finish moving in tomorrow and begin my introduction week so I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people!
